Well I tried to install Ubuntu Linux onto a bootable USB drive, and instead managed to overwrite the internal SSD part of my iMac's Fusion Drive. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Several hours and mini-heart-attacks later, I'm restoring from a Time Machine backup onto my completely reformatted, re-Fusioned internal drive.

Moral of the story: if I want to play around with Linux, I'll buy a cheap PC. No messing around with my mission-critical, production computer!!! 🤪

I got to see Alita: Battle Angel in the theater in 3D, which was a fantastic experience, so I give my spoiler-free review of the pros and the cons (but mostly pros!) of the movie. Plus some very interesting news regarding Emma Thompson and her takedown of The Man (aka Mr. Lasseter), as well as other links and creators of note. Enjoy!

I'll have more to say soon, but we're accepting requests for invites to Unmark - an open source to-do app for bookmarks. We're slowly sending out invitations and are looking for people that collect/share a lot of links and willing to provide feedback.

I've gotten my mojo back this week and have a lot of stuff in the hopper. (vlog, podcast, etc.)

Check out all the deets!

I was messing around with ZenBrush on my new iPad Pro and this emerged. I apologize in advance to any Chinese calligraphy experts out there…I have no idea what I'm doing! This is supposed to say “Serenity.” Hopefully I didn't botch it completely. Anyway, ZenBrush is an amazing app. (This is straight out of the device—it's not actually a canvas hanging up in an art gallery! 😲)

🔮 Five Predictions for Social Media in 2019

Will the fediverse last? Will Facebook implode? Will our brains all get uploaded to the Matrix? (Just kidding, there’s nothing in here about the Matrix. What do you think this is, 1999?)

Its 11:45pm and I should probably go to bed now.

Naw… 😏

Got into an amazing state of flow planning the week ahead after a fantastic workout. My brand new iPad Pro setup is certainly another contributing factor. 😁 Happy Sunday everybody!

Jared was sick…but at long last he’s been told he’ll make a full recovery, so enjoy this latest episode of the show: recorded, edited, produced, and published exclusively on iPad Pro! Yes, Jared has a brand-new tablet with Ferrite installed, which means it’s totally possible to record a podcast anywhere, anytime. Also: thoughts on "Zucked" by Roger McNamee, how it could be possible to live as a web developer/creator without using any Apple tools, and a whole lot more.

Just picked up "Zucked", the new book by early Facebook investor Roger McNamee (now a critic) regarding all the ills of Facebook and other surveillance capitalist companies (Google, etc.). This should be good.

Mastodon is like that thing in pre-school where everyone holds the rainbow colored tarp thing and you throw it up and run inside

Well I'm f'n shocked. After wrestling with Atom bugs and performance issues (on macOS) for such a long time, I finally gave up and looked around for another editor. Tried out Visual Studio Code.

WOW! It's so-o-o-o much faster than Atom with a ton of UX improvements. Feels like Atom in the ways that matter, but definitely improves upon it. It's funny that Atom and VS Code are now both under the MS umbrella…I've heard Atom may fade away because of this.

Anyway, I'm a happy camper. 😃
